FreeSaver in your own language

FreeSaver officially supports only English language, but you can tranlsate its configuration interface and manual to your own language.

How to translate FreeSaver language file

Generating a language file is easy, just follow this step by step guide:

  • Download the latest version and install it
  • Find the FreeSaver folder (usually c:\program files\freesaver2)
  • Copy the file english.lang to another file named as your language, example: italiano.lang
  • Edit the new file with notepad or another plain text editor (do NOT use Word, Wordpad or similar), and translate all the sentences AFTER the = character
  • Select the correct LocaleID: at the beginning of the file you will see a line which starts with LocaleID= followed by 4 numbers. Change the 4 numbers with the numbers which identifies the language in the Microsoft Table of Language Identifiers. You must take only the last 4 digits; example: Italian language code is 0x0410, the resuling line should be "LocaleID=0410"
  • To test your language file, start FreeSaver settings window, select your language file and restart it

Once the translation file is finished and widely tested, you can send it to us if you want it to be added to next FreeSaver distribution. Please send it to support@mgshareware.com and we will include it in the next release of FreeSaver.

As a reward, we will put your name and eventually a link to your web site or email address, on the General page of FreeSaver settings window, and show it when the user select your language file!
